Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Litigation Legal Assistant role based in Dayton, OH. A detail-oriented, proactive Legal Assistant will support our active litigation practice. In this role, you will play a critical part in assisting attorneys in the life cycle of a case, from initial intake through trial preparation. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, understands Ohio court rules, and thrives in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain calendars, track critical court deadlines, schedule depositions, hearings, and client meetings.
  • Draft, format, and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, and general correspondence.
  • Handle electronic filing (e-filing) across various Ohio county common pleas courts, appellate courts, and federal courts (CM/ECF).
  • Assist attorneys with compiling, organizing, and indexing documents for discovery and trial exhibits.
  • Serve as a professional point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and vendors.
  • Maintain physical and electronic client files, track billable time or expenses, and manage daily incoming mail.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of civil litigation assistant experience.
  • Familiarity with Ohio Rules of Civil Procedure and regional e-filing protocols.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and legal case management software and tools commonly used in the field.
  • Excellent spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills, alongside a high level of accuracy in document management.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
